2014 DELL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREE LEVEL IN USA

 Michael & Susan Dell Foundation is offering Dell scholarship program for undergraduate students in USA. The Dell Scholars Program places greater emphasis on a student’s determination to succeed than just academic record and test scores. 300 scholarships are offered annually. Dell Scholars receive $20,000 each to complete their higher education over the course of six years. In addition, the Dell Scholars Program provides its students with technology, a private scholar networking community, resources and mentoring to ensure they have the support they need to achieve their college degrees. Application will open on November 1, 2013.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided to study approved college readiness programs or courses offered by accredited higher education institutions in USA.  

Course Level: The scholarships are available for pursuing bachelor degree level.

Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for the Dell Scholars Program scholarship, you must meet the below listed criteria:
-Participating in a Michael & Susan Dell Foundation approved college readiness program in grades 11 and 12
-Graduating from an accredited high school this academic year
-Earning a minimum of a 2.4 GPA
-Demonstrated need for financial assistance
-Eligible to receive federal student aid
-Planning to enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited higher education institution in the fall directly after your graduation from high school

Scholarship Description: While many students dream of obtaining a college degree, life sometimes gets in the way, particularly for those dealing with personal responsibilities at home or in their communities. The Dell Scholars program, an initiative of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, recognizes students who have overcome significant obstacles to pursue their educations. In turn, these scholars serve as positive role models and change the trajectories for their siblings, friends and their communities. We award 300 scholarships annually and since 2004, have provided students with $49 million in college scholarships and support services. The Dell Scholars Program places greater emphasis on a student’s determination to succeed than just academic record and test scores. We empower students to gain the knowledge; skill-sets and attitude needed to cope with their changing world and the circumstances in which they live. Programs currently approved to participate in the Dell Scholars Program are AP Strategies, Alliance College-Ready Public Schools, Aspire, AVID, Breakthrough Austin, College Forward, Cristo Rey Network, Fulfillment Fund, GEAR UP, Genesys Works, Green Dot Public Schools, IDEA Academy, KIPP Academy/ KIPP Through College(KTC), Mastery Charter Schools, Noble Charter, Philadelphia Futures, Uplift Education, Upward Bound, Upward Bound – Math Science and YES Prep Public Schools

Number of award(s): 300 scholarships are offered annually.


Duration of award(s): Dell Scholars receive the scholarship to complete their higher education over the course of six years.

Selection Criteria: Dell Scholars are students who demonstrate their desire and ability to overcome barriers and to achieve their goals. Your application will be evaluated on your:
Individual determination to succeed
-Future goals and plans to achieve them
Ability to communicate the hardships you have overcome or currently face
-Self motivation in completing challenging coursework
-Demonstrated need for financial assistance

Notification: Applicants will be notified by the April 10, 2014.
